Installation: Crystal laser, camera, 3 beamers
A green crystal laser (1000 mw) is the only source of light inside the church. At a height of 3.30 m, it is directed in a horizontal line along the symmetrical axis of the church’s nave. It crosses the entire room and then disappears into a black box on the opposite wall. A closed-circuit color video system records a microscopic view of the dust in the air. The approximately 1 x 3 cm camera frame is then enlarged to 6 x 9 meters and, at the same time, projected onto the colored lead glazing of the three church windows.The projection of the greenish-white dust particles is then defined by the different colors of the lead glazing. The church is not illuminated from outside; the only source of light here is the colorful “shooting stars” that light up the leaded windows.
A sign of passing time is the appearance of dust, it seems to be always in the air and it settles where there is no movement. As long as it moves it doesn’t enter the realm of visibility with everyday’s light conditions, but it might appear in a beam of direct light. Achim Mohné uses a laser as the light source that detects the moving dust in the air. The search is documented with a camera and projected onto the three windows of the church. The stained glass windows partly reflect the projections and partly let them pass. The result is a cosmic scenery inside the church as well as in the courtyard outside. (W.T.)

Ein grüner Crystal Laser (1000 mw) bildet die einzige Lichtquelle im Kirchenraum. Er wird als waagerechte Linie in einer Höhe von 3,30 m entlang der Symmetrieachse des Kircheschiffes gelenkt. Dabei durchmisst er den gesamten Raum und wird an der gegenüberliegenden Wand von einer schwarzen Box verschluckt. Ein Close-Circuit-Farbvideosystem erfasst einen mikroskopischen Blick des Staubes in der Luft. Dieser Kameraausschnitt von ca. 1 x 3 cm wird auf ein Format von 6 x 9 Metern vergrößert und zeitgleich auf die farbige Bleiverglasung der drei Kirchenfenster projiziert. Die Projektion der grünlich weißen Staubkörner wird durch die unterschiedliche Farbe der Bleiverglasung bestimmt. Von außen ist die Kirche nicht illuminiert, die bunten “Sternschnuppen”, welche die Bleiverglasung erleuchten, bilden auch hier die einzige Lichtquelle.
